>> MSConfig / Task Manager

In theory, having lots of software on your computer probably isn’t causing a slowdown by itself.

When you have two dozen programs all trying to run when you first start the system, though, that’s where problems occur.

The built-in utility MSConfig can help you cut down on the amount of programs that run automatically.

To access it in Windows 7, type msconfig into the Start Menu to open the System Configuration window.

Click on the Startup tab to view everything that starts running when you boot into Windows.

If you’re on Windows 8 or 10, this tab will instead refer you to the Startup tab of the revamped Task Manager.

Once in the Startup menu, you can start unchecking boxes (on Windows 7) or right-clicking and choosing Disable (on Windows 8 or 10) to prevent items from running at boot.

Be sure that you know what a program does before disabling it.

You don’t want to stop your antivirus or backup software from running at startup, since you need those active all the time.

 >> Disk Cleanup / CCleaner

You might already know, but a lot of files on your computer aren’t necessary for any program.

From leftover Windows Update files to temporary data used by your web browser, you could have several gigabytes of junk just sitting around.

If this is filling up your hard drive, it could affect performance.

Your best two options for cleaning up temporary data are the built-in Disk Cleanup tool and CCleaner.

 >> Revo Uninstaller

While it helps to prevent non-critical software from running at startup, it’s even better to uninstall programs you don’t use.

This will free up space and save resources.

You can always use the Programs and Features menu in Windows to uninstall software, but going a step further with Revo Uninstaller is a good idea.

Revo allows you to obliterate every trace of a program on your system.

After running the built-in uninstaller, it scans for extra pieces.

However, don’t fret about the items that Revo finds in the Registry during the uninstall process.

Cleaning the Registry is useless and you’re better off leaving it alone to avoid damage.

Paired up with our other tips, Revo is one part of a great offense against troublesome software that might be slowing down your system.

 >> Disk Defragmenter

While solid state drives (SSDs) are becoming more popular, traditional hard disk drives (HDDs) are still widely used.

If you use an HDD, regular defragmentation can help keep the drive performing at its best.

The built-in Disk Defragmenter / Optimize Drives tool in Windows is all most people need for defragmentation.

Simply click Analyze to find out how fragmented the drive is, then Defragment / Optimize to begin the process.

Modern versions of Windows perform this process on a schedule automatically, so you won’t need to manually run this utility.

 >> Consider Lighter Alternatives

In some cases, you can replace slow software with a speedier alternative to keep things running quickly.

One example is Google Chrome, which is notorious for hogging RAM and running slowly on low-end systems.

If you can break out of Chrome’s trap, speed up your browsing by using Firefox or giving Opera a try.

Other software you use might be slowing down your experience.

If you regularly work with massive PDFs, try a lighter alternative to Adobe Reader.

Don’t use the, bloated µTorrent; replace it with a BitTorrent client that’s light as a feather.

_________________________

Software, in its most general sense, is a set of instructions or programs instructing a computer to do specific tasks.

Software is a generic term used to describe computer programs.

Scripts, applications, programs and a set of instructions are the terms often used to describe software.

The word software was first used by John Tukey in 1958.

The theory of software was first proposed by Alan Turing in 1935.

 >> Software is often divided into three categories:

System software serves as a base for application software.

System software includes device drivers, operating systems (OSs), compilers, disk formatters, text editors and utilities helping the computer to operate more efficiently.

It is also responsible for managing hardware components and providing basic non-task specific functions.

The system software is usually written in C programming language.

Programming software is a set of tools to aid the developers to write programs.

The various tools available are compilers, linkers, debuggers, interpreters and text editors.

Application software is intended to perform certain tasks.

Examples of application software include office suites, gaming applications, database systems and educational software.

Application software can be a single program or a collection of small programs.

 _________________________

The PlayStation 4 can also stream directly to Twitch.

The PlayStation controller has a Share button on it that you can use to start the process—but as usual, you’ll have to link your accounts first. To do this:

Go to Settings > Account Management > Link with Other Services.

Select Twitch and sign in to your Twitch account.

Then, launch the game you want to play. To broadcast:

While playing the game, press the Share button.

Choose an online service. We’ll use Twitch, but the PS4 also supports YouTube out of the box. Sign in to your streaming account if prompted.

To adjust your broadcast while streaming, you can use the “Options” button to open the “Advanced Broadcast” menu.

Of all the platforms, the PS4 seems the easiest to stream from, as it doesn’t require any special downloads.

You can also use the Share menu to take screenshots or record video clips.

_________________________

With the Xbox One, game streaming is baked into the OS; you don’t need to install a separate app to broadcast your gaming.

By default, you’ll be sending your stream to Microsoft’s Mixer service.

To get started, hold down the Xbox button while you’re playing (or preparing to play) a game, select the “Broadcast” tab and then select “Start Broadcast.”

A wizard will open to help you tweak things like broadcast quality, adding extra players and more. Pressing the B button will send you back to your game.

If you’d rather stream to Twitch from your Xbox One, you’ll need to download the Twitch app to your console.

And before you broadcast, you’ll need to link your account. To do so, follow these steps:

Open the Twitch app on your Xbox One console.

On the left side of the app menu, select “Log in.”

Open twitch.tv/activate on your computer or phone.

Enter the six digit code on your Xbox to link your account.

Once your accounts are linked, you can start broadcasting.

Simply select the “Start Broadcast” tile to begin sharing.

You’ll be given the option to enable Kinect video or audio with your microphone.

If you’re a Kinect user, you can also say “Xbox, Broadcast” to begin a streaming session once everything is all set up.

_________________________

Smartphones keep getting faster each year, so much so that it’s now possible to play old PC and console games on your phone.

In fact, many modern PC and console games also offer a version tailored for the mobile phone.

It’s no wonder that many people now use the mobile phone as their primary gaming device.

This isn’t very surprising considering the fact that a smartphone is usually more accessible as compared to gaming consoles or PCs.

So, if you take mobile gaming very seriously, here are a couple of tips that should help you make the most of your device.

 # Try to play games with a 100% battery

True to their name, smartphones really are very smart now.

For example, when the resources are limited, it knows which processes need to be prioritised.

As such, when the battery drops below a certain percentage, the device may automatically switch to a ‘low-power’ mode in order to conserve battery.

You may even see this when it hits the 20% marker, however, it usually starts reallocating resources even before that.

So, there is a noticeable drop in the performance of a game when you play it on low battery since it is a resource-intensive activity.

 # Wi-Fi may not always be the best option

While Wi-Fi is a very good option to play multiplayer games, it may not be the best option every time.

If you have a poor ISP, you might notice frequent drops in connection.

Further, if anyone else is using the same connection to download files or watch videos, then your connection might suffer further. In such situations,

you’re better off using your mobile internet to ensure stability. As such, you need to ensure that your operator offers fast internet speeds.

 # Use Developer Options to your advantage

Android’s Developer Options offer a range of settings for you to play around with.

Certain settings can help you get better gaming experience.

For example, 4xMSAA (Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing) can improve the visual quality of games.

However, you will have to pay for this quality with higher performance requirements and increased battery drain.

So you’ll have to take that into account before you turn it on.

 # Flash a custom ROM or a Kernel

The best thing about using an Android phone is the fact that there is so much you can tweak.

There are loads of Custom ROMs and Kernels available online.

Many phones have performance-centric customs ROMS that you can download, while some also have Kernels available, while can lead to system-level customisations.n

However, this should ideally be done by those who are very familiar with how Android works as there is a chance that you might brick your phone if you do something wrong.

 # Keep it cool

Playing games for an extended period of time can generate a lot of heat.

If your phone gets too hot, the device will automatically start throttling the CPU in order to cool down, and protect the internal components from any damage.

Not only that, but a hot device is also difficult to hold on to.

The best way to counteract this would be to play in a cool environment, such as one with air conditioning.

If you have a phone case on, removing that also helps your phone cool down faster.

So the next time you're playing an intense mobile game, keep these pointers in mind and you’re sure to have a more enjoyable gaming experience.

_________________________

We have used a custom tool provided by the organization that functions just like Dropbox,

but zipping the files, uploading and downloading them using the internet is again time taking.

Seeing this data havoc on an almost daily basis, I made it a point to come up with a solution to ease up the file transfer between the computers.

Now for some background information, we have a desktop that is used to gather and monitor the data about the entire team, and it never switches off.

My idea was to run the FTP Server on it and then create folders for each of us, which could be easily accessible by any of the connected computers.

So let’s see how we can configure any Windows folder as an FTP repository using a free application called FileZilla.

Download link :

https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?show_all=1

Hosting a Folder as an FTP server

Install the program with default settings.

If you don’t want to start the FileZilla server on the computer automatically,

make the necessary choices while installing the application.

Select the option Install as service, started with Windows.

This should be the ideal choice if you want the process to run all the time, even if the computer reboots by any chance.

Once the installation is completed, run the app to create a repository.

Click on the Edit menu on FileZilla and click on Users.

Now in the account settings, click on the Add button to add a user profile and give it a password.

This username and password will be used for authentication when you connect to the FTP server from a different computer.

Having done that, click on the option Shared Folders and add a folder you would like to share as an FTP server.

Finally, give all the permissions you would like to have for files and folders when accessed from a remote computer, and save the settings.

That’s all – your FTP server is now set and you can use it from any computer connected to the same network.

To open the FTP folder, open the Run box and type in the command,FTP: Host Computer IP Address

Viewing FTP folders in Windows Explorer Now, while accessing the FTP folder from a different computer,

you will have to type the address in the Windows Explorer address bar.

However, when you open the shared repository, it will open up in Internet Explorer.

While you can easily download the file in the IE view of the FTP repository, it doesn’t allow you to upload files.

And when there are many files and folders that we need to transfer, a simple copy/paste is all that we look for.

So to enable the explorer view on FTP, open Internet Explorer and click on Tools —> Internet Options.

Here, navigate to the Advanced tab and check the option Enable FTP folder view (outside of Internet Explorer).

That’s all. You can then view the FTP files and folders in Windows Explorer and use the simple copy and paste commands to back up and restore files to and from your computer.

Note: You can increase the security of FTP by configuring the port manually other than using the default configured port that’s 21.

Conclusion :

This trick can be used to share files between computers when many of them are connected to the same network.

_________________________
